A lot of the student loan debt could be avoided by simply going to a state college and not attending more expensive out-of-state schools.

But I suspect that the real reason is simply that STEM is hard and American kids are lazy. They'd rather be on social media or playing video games.

I'm serious about this. Walk into almost any STEM-related college classroom these days and you'll notice that the majority of the attending students are of anon-white, ethnic background that still respects and rewards hard work and education.

Kids used to get involved with building cars and radios and generally learning how the real world works. Now they hope on the computer and while away the hours digging virtual holes in virtual worlds.
