Agree that Optimus isn't the silver bullet, but disagree on the assertion that the shape is wrong.
Humans have built environments shaped for humans. Doors and stairs shaped for humans. Tools and appliances shaped for humans.
So are you better off trying to replace everything, each with a single-purpose robotic brain, sensors, and more... or do you create one general purpose robot that could potentially do anything asked of it?
What won out in the marketplace? Custom built Wang Word Processors... or general purpose computers?
