China's crude oil imports are down and may have peaked in 2024. They--and their citizens--are embracing NEVs and a lot of their transportation systems have been electrified.
Norway's internal use has plummeted (EVs again). And Ethiopia is the first country in the world to ban the import of fossil fuel-powered ICE vehicles.
That said, the oil industry is increasingly shifting its focus from producing gasoline to producing petrochemicals, as the demand for traditional fuels like gasoline is declining due to climate concerns, while the demand for petrochemical products like plastics, fertilizers, and packaging materials is rapidly growing.
But I'm not sure that later growth will remain consistent either, as there's been a growing backlash against plastics and other petrochemical-based products.
