Feels like another no-win scenario to me. People yell at Apple for pushing incremental updates to products, and then they yell at them when they DON'T push incremental updates.
Truth of the matter is probably that the iPad replacement cycle is even longer than that of the Mac. If you use one for reading or watching videos or other media consumption then your current iPad is probably just fine.
Which in turn is why iPad sales are lagging.
Would a waterproof iPad be nice? Sure. I guess. But I don't think it's a groundbreaking change.
And if anything, I suspect that the new MacBook Airs have cannibalized sales even further. Which is perfectly fine, from Apple's perspective.
