I always disliked skeuomorphism. A lot of the space is wasted (my opinion) and worse, using a skeuomorphic interface places constraints on an application, in that it needs to behave like its real-world counterpart.

Further, the more out of bounds you go with your interface, the more problems you're going to have when Apple releases a new platform (Watch, TV, Vision) and you need to rework that custom interface to fit.

The more you stick with the standard UI components, the easier your life will be.
