I think you forgot Apple's other habit of using efficiency gains to shrink the size of the device so it can be smaller and thinner. Usually resulting in the claim, "Faster, more powerful, thinner... while still keeping the SAME all-day battery life."

I suspect that the new, upcoming MB Air with the M2 will be a prime example of this.
