I wrote about some of that in the linked article, but one of the key takeaways from it is that all of us have different needs, wants, and desires.

Some people don't see the need for a smart watch. Others can't get through the day without it.

Some people might simply want to replace a desk full of screens in a small apartment. Or want a "big screen" TV in the same space. Or want to watch a movie or ball game while your kids play video games on the TV. And so on.

There's a lot more to process, but I think I'd substitute "perceived need" for "basic human need". In and as of itself, a hammer doesn't solve a basic human need.

It serves a purpose.
