If it’s not obvious from this article, or others, I’m chomping at the bit to use SwiftUI… and I can’t. I think it’s a marvelous toolset and I’ve been playing with it practically as soon as it was announced. And I can’t use it.
Which is exactly where I was four years ago with UIStackView.
I’ve been a developer on Apple platofrms for decades and I totally understand platform evolution and transition. But in this case I think the traditional evolution pattern is a mistake and that, with just a little more work, Apple could achieve some level of backwards compatability for iOS.
Not to mention that other, similar toolsets (Flutter) are clamoring for my attention (and yours) and that their stories are equally compelling. Perhaps even more so for Flutter and its iOS and Android cross-platform capabilties.
