I'm an American straight white male, and as such pretty much the epitome of the privilege those characteristics bestowed.
Being male I was never told that I weaker or less capable or too emotional.
Being white meant that I was never ostracized or barred from an event or job or place simply due to the color of my skin.
And being straight I was never demonized by society or religion.
Replace any one of those things, and my life would have been much, much harder, with a lot more obstacles to overcome.
That’s "privilege”.
