It’s true that Apple charges 30% for a developer to get a paid app in front of hundreds of millions of people, and off the cuff, 30% seems like a lot…

But have you ever tried to sell a product to a retail wholesaler? Boom. 50%.

Apple manages the app store, maintains the servers, reviews and tests the applications, handles the credit card transactions and manages returns and payments and fraud and reserves, handles local taxes, rights management, and provides content delivery and distribution.

And — as mentioned — puts your app in front of hundreds of millions of people.
