Jeep is definitely worth picking on, but in point of fact one could write pretty much the same article about Ford or GM. Just build ever bigger, ever pricier vehicles and then convince the public that they need bigger vehicles in an ever escalating size war.
For men, tell 'em they're not "real men" unless they had a pickup or SUV capable of climbing (or hauling) Mt. Everest.
For woman, tell them they're not "safe" unless they're driving around in a two-ton armored fortress.
Each one more expensive than the last, of course.
The cycle continued, year after year. The suckers kept buying and the automakers just pocketed the extra money and laughed all of the way to the bank.
