Makes sense to me. They can--and do--generate electricity locally whereas almost all of their oil and gasoline comes from imports.

Should also note that this appears to just be a ban on new ICE vehicles. They're not banning all of the existing vehicles, and they're not stopping oil and gas imports.

They're just setting themselves up for self-sufficiency in the near future.

More countries should do the same.
