My command of the English language might be lacking at times, but I have worked in sales. If a customer places an order with your company you have a “sale”. If you have an order in hand and the customer then decides to cancel that order, then you’ve “lost” that sale.

The vernacular is fairly common on that point, and I used it.

Secondly, as a developer with quite a few contacts in the industry and, perhaps more to the point, as a top 1,000 Medium author, I have a fairly decent idea of what people are expecting and anticipating… and that development was in fact anticipated. Did it occur? No? Did quite a few people think that it might happen? Yes.

Third, Apple has in fact moved some aspects of iOS/iPad development to the iPad via the recent enhancements to Swift Playgrounds. Is it complete? No. Did they start doing it? Yes.

Fourth, I question your “sane reality” comment. Apple, unlike quite a few other companies, has an excellent grasp of the concept that you can either cannibalize your own sales… or you can let someone else do it for you.

And actually, given the fact that a high-end iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard costs MORE than an equivalent MacBook Air or MBP, I’d seriously question just how much “cannibalization” they’ed be facing…
