It's amazing how Toyota sourced all of those non-proprietary hybrid engines, motors, batteries, and drivetrains.
Why, I can walk into almost any repair shop and buy a new... ah....
But seriously, my point still stands. Toyota bought into the hydrogen hoopla and now is throwing shade at EV technology since they know they're way, way behind the curve.
Their CEO even personally took credit for "slowing down" EV adoption.
Hybrids can certainly be reliable. Not debating that. But they're still twice as complex, and they still require the all of the maintenance required by a traditional ICE vehicle, only now you also have batteries and motors and more complex drivetrains as additional points of failure.
