A vehicle is a transportation mechanism used to get from point A to point B. Period. Automobiles are just one of those mechanisms (and not a very good one to boot).

In Europe, "freedom" is the ability to hop on a train to go almost anywhere at anytime, without spending tens of thousands of dollars buying, maintaining, registering, and insuring an expensive hunk of steel and glass that's going to spent 98% of its life sitting in a parking lot or garage.**
