OMG, the dreaded "socialism". Can't have a commons that works, or public health care. That's "socialist".
Funny, though, how those "socialist" policies tend to be the baseline for the countries listed as happiest in the index. Of course, there those policies aren't considered to be "socialist", but just the baseline for how a society should support its citizenry.
It's science fiction, but you should read Voyage from Yesteryear by James P Hogan. That's the society that I want to live in, divorced from GDP and profits.
