Phones are a mature technology. Tablets are a mature technology. Macs were (and once again are) are back to being a mature technology. Wearable watches are rapidly becoming a mature technology.
Most mature technologies are boring and, with few exceptions, upgrades to them are boring.
And with mature technologies, the upgrade cycle slips. People buy new ones when the old one breaks or wears out, or when, after a year or three, the differences between their existing device and the new one become more apparent.
