The either/or choice is a false dichotomy. There are other options.

I'd do what China did, and what Biden did with the IRA and the CHIPS act, and what Harris was proposing we do more of, and that's encouraging investment in US-based businesses and technologies.

The U.S. should be funding innovation, not just taxing imports that only end up hurting American consumers.

Across-the-board tariffs are a stupid tool used mainly by stupid people who think that the countries they're imposed against are simply going to sit back and do nothing.

Instead of waging a one-on-one economic war, the U.S. should also be working with allies like Japan, South Korea, and the EU to develop alternative supply chains.

Of course, the US is busy alienating all of its allies too.

Stupid.
