The entire point of the article was that Apple has squandered the opportunity it had to lead in this space.
Using tools like Flutter, Ionic, KMP, and others almost always result in a least-common-denominator application that fails to make full use of the features and functionality available on a given platform.
That's further exacerbated when those tools are Android-first, since it also decreases the likelihood of support when Apple introduces a new feature (like SharePlay), new behaviors for existing tools (text entry), or a new platform that depends on Apple's tooling (like the watch or the new Vision Pro).
All of these things affect Apple's ability to differentiate its offerings from those of others, and that's the strategic disadvantage to which I was referring.
