The two things that have almost irrevocably damaged this country are Fox News and social media engagement algorithms.

Both ensure that you only get "news" that reinforces your personal biases, and the demand for engagement ensures that that you're only going to see the most outrageous quotes, memes, and events.

The Democratic Party's current messaging is based on, quote, "there's more that unites us than divides us", unquote. And I believe that's true.

Unfortunately, that messaging's going to have a hard time penetrating the echo chamber bubbles that all too many of us have surrounded ourselves in.

When a Fox News host goes online and tells its audience, day-in and -day-out, that the "Left want to destroy America"... when do you start to believe that, yes, maybe they do?

The only way to get through is by direct, frank, sincere, face-to-face discussion. But that's not going to help a lot when everyone in Small Town, Nebraska is all one the same side.
