There are plenty of articles that discuss well-to-wheel efficiencies between EVs and ICEs. But I've seen WTW EV ratings that basically put it anywhere from 170% to 230% more efficient than an ICE per equivalent unit of fossil fuel consumed.

And, as this article shows, plenty of people are working on drastically reducing the amount and types of material used in EV battery production.
