Think and Grow Rich, The Secret, The Power of Positive Thinking, and the many, manay, many others of that ilk are all exceedingly popular books... and they're also full of insidious, poisonous lies.
The premise behind all of them is basically fantasy wish-fullfillment. Believe in something and it will happen. Think yourself healthy and you'll be healthy. See riches fallinging into your pocket and riches will fall into your pocket.
They all insist that reality is what you want it to be... instead of what it is.
You want a better job? Don't wish for it. Read. Take classes. Do the work and make it happen.
Want to be healthy? Sure, visialize yourself as healthy. Then eat well and exercise and visit your doctor regularly.
Want wealth? Sure, visualize riches fallinging into your pocket... spend a whole minute visualizing that if you want... and then get off the couch, figure out how you're going to actually make it happen, and then get out and do the work.
To be fair, however. Those books have generated a lot of wealth... for their authors.
