Unfortunately, the end result of measure-measure-measure always seems to end with production lines and Amazon-style warehouses where the ultimate goal is to wring every single erg of energy out of the human "machines" in the process.
When this sort of "productivity" is your god, your sole purpose comes down down to how can we get more X per hour. Regardless of the costs or consequences to the "machines" doing the work. No wasted motion. No time to think. Just more, more, more.
My parents worked many, many, many hours on production lines, and I'll tell you now that such efficiency is a wonderful thing... if you own the production line. For the workers, not so much.
