We may get hydrogen for fleet trucks, semis, and similar vehicles.
But hydrogen is 3x more expensive compared to gasoline, current methods of production are not carbon neutral, and we totally lack almost any kind of national production and distribution and sales infrastructure.
Compared to electricity hydrogen is inefficient and hydrogen also requires scare and expensive materials for the fuel cells.
Finally, I suspect the energy companies would just love getting into hydrogen, once again requiring everyone to make those weekly stops at the "gas" station.
Hydrogen also faces the Hindenburg problem... ;)
